| Gentry Three Position Safety for Remington 700 & M98 |
 | | These are on the pricey side, I know, but having a positive safety instead of a "trigger block" safety makes it well worth the cost.
Take for instance a R700 factory safety, when you apply the safety all you do is block the trigger from being pulled, but the cocking piece is still in contact with the sear.
When a Gentry Three Position Safety is applied, the cocking piece is lifted and locked off of the sear.
The First, (safe) Position of the lever lifts the cocking piece and bolt, the Second Position still locks the cocking piece but allows the bolt to be lifted to enable unloading or checking the action.
The Third Position allows the rifle to be fired. It is basically the same as a factory Win 70 safety.
